THE stars of this year’s pantomime adventure Aladdin at the Mayflower Theatre have launched the show in style.

Comedian, national treasure and stage star Joe Pasquale was joined by Duncan James from Blue at the Southampton venue.

Joe leads the cast in the role of Wishee Washee. Well-known for being one of the top-selling live comedians in British comedy, he is no stranger to pantomime and has also starred in several major theatre productions including The Producers and Spamalot in the West End and on tour.

Playing the title role of Aladdin is singer-songwriter, television presenter, and actor Duncan James.

Best-known as a member of the band Blue, Duncan has also appeared in the West End in Chicago and Legally Blonde, and has appeared on numerous television programmes, including Soapstar Superstar and Dancing on Ice.

Duncan made his pantomime debut in Jack and the Beanstalk in Birmingham last Christmas and received rave reviews for his performance.

Their mother, the infamous Widow Twankey, will be played by the legendary Ceri Dupree. The international cabaret artist and variety legend’s career has spanned over 30 years where his unique talents (and fabulous frocks) have taken him through musical theatre, summer seasons, television, cabaret and, of course, family pantomime.

Aladdin will also feature an amazing 3D genie who will be granting our hero’s wishes and making dreams come true. The action onstage will also extend towards the audience with a stunning 3D sequence through Old Peking and a very magical carpet ride!

Aladdin is produced by Qdos Entertainment, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, the company behind last year’s record-breaking production of Cinderella.
