LIMELIGHT, the youth arm of BAOS (Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society) take to the stage in October with their production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods.

Imagine all your favourite fairytale characters brought together in one unique show. The fortunes of Little Red Riding Hood, Jack & the Beanstalk, Cinderella and Rapunzel are mingled in a fantastic fractured fairy tale.

At the heart of the story are a Baker, his wife and their quest to reverse a witch’s spell.

And if you have ever wondered what happened next, beyond ‘happily ever after’, you can watch as the characters start questioning their hopes and dreams and find themselves thrown together in unfamiliar circumstances.

The musical was filmed for the big screen in 2014 with a cast including Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and James Corden.

One of Limelight’s cast is 16-year-old Hazel Baldwin, who plays Cinderella to 17-year-old Luke Sayers’ Prince Charming.

She explains:”I don’t want to give anything away but by the end of Act One, my character thinks she has everything she ever wished for. Little does she know!

“It’s been such fun turning a fairy tale on its head and I’m thrilled to be part of this new Limelight production.”

The talented NODA award-winning Limelighters will bring the story to life on the stage in Queen Mary’s Hall, QMC, on October 24 and 25.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see this fantastic musical bought to you by local young people.
