AN original stage play entitled Sherlock Holmes and The Ripper Murders arrives in town towards the end of the month.

See it on the stage of The Haymarket, presented by Talking Scarlet, from Wednesday, June 24 to Saturday 27.

The play has been written by Brian Clemens, an inventive and prolific storyteller best known for such television gems as The Avengers and The Professionals.

This production stars Brian's son, Samuel Clemens, as Sherlock, in addition to Andrew Paul (The Bill, Where the Heart Is, Coronation Street), Neil Roberts (Holby City), Kim Taylforth (London's Burning, Bad Girls) and George Telfer (Emmerdale).

The play begins with the grisly serial killings in Victorian Whitechapel, dubbed by the popular press as the work of ‘Jack the Ripper’, which are the talk of London.

From deep within the smog-ridden slums, yet another piercing shriek is heard...

Sherlock Holmes and Dr John H Watson are drawn into one of the darkest plots ever to shake the foundations of England. There are freemasons, conspiracies and corruption at the highest level of the establishment.

But for Holmes, there is a uniquely personal element to this new and terrifying case.
