TADLEY’S Boundary Players are to present Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest as their next production.

This “trivial comedy for serious people” lampoons the hypocrisies of a Victorian society.

Two bachelors, the dependable John Worthing, J.P. and upper class playboy Algernon Moncrieff, feel compelled to create different identities in order to pursue two eligible ladies Cecily Cardew and Gwendolyn Fairfax.

Hilarious misadventures result from their subterfuge.

Their brushes with the redoubtable Lady Bracknell and the uptight Miss Prism result in a play that twists and fizzles with some of the finest dialogue to be found in theatre.

Performances take place from May 5-9 in the William Penney Theatre, Aldermaston.

Tickets priced £8 are available by emailing tickets@boundaryplayers.co.uk or calling 07756 141734.
