THE Sound of Music is undoubtedly one of the most popular musicals of all time.

Rogers and Hammerstein’s 1959 production, filmed in 1965 with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, has it all – drama, laughs, romance and some of the most memorable songs in musical history.

This new production of the show stars Danielle Hope, who rose to fame in 2010 when she won the leading role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in the BBC One show Over the Rainbow.

She is joined in this production by Steven Houghton as Captain Von Trapp, whose delivery of Edelweiss is spot on.

Seven delightful young actors play the Von Trapp children, and each one of them sings and dances perfectly and without a hint of ‘stage school’.

Basingstoke Gazette:

The star of the show, however, is Jan Hartley as Mother Abbess. There is not a dry eye in the house after her amazing rendition of Climb Ev'ry Mountain.

Costumes are gorgeous, especially Elsa Schraeder’s shoes, and the beautiful sets are cleverly layered across the stage.

I loved every minute of this five star production which is a perfect theatrical treat for all ages.

You’ll have a smile on your face throughout the delivery of all of those familiar songs including Do-Re-Mi, So Long, Farewell and My Favourite Things.

The immediate standing ovation at the end says it all – this is an unmissable show.
