Talk of the Town

QMC

BASINGSTOKE Tappers & Jazz Dance Co performed their new show Talk Of The Town recently.

The evening sold out before advertising as word spread that Tracey Kinchenton was staging an event back in Basingstoke, after her last two productions were staged in the West End.

Paul Hazel, a singer /actor with eleven West End roles behind him and currently touring with Putting on the Ritz with Lorna Luft, wowed the audiences with his slick performance.

The Wayne Morgan Big Band oozed charisma whilst performing swing favourites while Jenny Darren, a rock and soul diva, performed an outstanding tribute to Aretha Franklin.

The show was set in an exclusive cabaret-style venue and Tracey Kinchenton had transformed QMC hall into a glittering red carpet event.

The Basingstoke Tappers proved that they still have what it takes to get an audience on their feet with appreciation, after two decades of expert dance tuition from Tracey, who is an ISTD Gold Star Tap Award Winner.

Whilst it was an adult evening, special guests from The Tap Shack Project were invited to appear in the line-up.

Toby Needham, Ryan Baker, Florence Neller, Ewan Wilkins and Jayden Robertson, all Tappers from Fairfields School, performed, along with Sudhish Kadam, Jack Kent, Chloe Frewer and Annabelle Palliser.

Dancers from the Tappers performed exhilarating tap routines with wonderful costumes that gave the evening its ‘wow’ factor.

Deemer Street, who were put together by John Deemer from a pool of the finest musicians in the country, were the band for the evening.

Basingstoke’s Tappers’ Tracey Kinchenton said: “The Talk of the Town Basingstoke will be a regular event showcasing outstanding local talent.

“The next one, also at QMC, will take place on December 21.We did our first show in QMC 22 years ago and whenever we are there it feels like home!”
