THE Watermill Theatre in Newbury has reached the final shortlist of five venues nominated for the My Theatre Matters! UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre Award.   

Nominations for the awards’ creative categories were announced on Thursday, September 25 and can be viewed online at www.uktheatre.org. 

Voting is now complete but the winner will not be announced until the day of the annual UK Theatre Awards ceremony in London’s historic Guildhall on Sunday, October 19.

The public voting system included an element of weighting based on the capacity of each theatre.

Of 256 venues that competed, the final shortlist is:

Clwyd Theatr Cymru 

Newcastle Theatre Royal

The Watermill Theatre

Theatre Royal Plymouth

Wales Millennium Centre
