BAOS (Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society) brings a concert version of the popular Gilbert & Sullivan comic opera The Mikado to Basing House as part of Basingstoke Festival.

In 1885, Gilbert had the inspired idea of transporting mid-Victorian England into an oriental setting in a hilarious tale, poking delicious fun at the politics and politicians of the day.

Gilbert’s witty lyrics introduce The Mikado’s comic characters and Sullivan’s bountiful score is a sparkling gem, speeding the story along with a host of toe-tapping greats, including Three Little Maids from School , Tit-Willow ,'The Sun, Whose Rays and The Flowers that Bloom in the Spring.

Bring a picnic along on Saturday, June 29 from 12.30pm, and enjoy the lovely Tudor Barn Setting and listen to, or sing-along with, BAOS at 2pm.

Basing House and BAOS have worked successfully in partnership together over the last two years to bring picnic performances to the historic venue as part of the Basingstoke Festival.

Tickets can be purchased on line or on the day subject to availability and include the opportunity to explore the rest of the site on the day. Please bring picnic chairs with you.

Cost: Adult £10, Under 16s £7, Under 5s Free, Family (2 adults + 2 children or 1 adult and up to 3 children) £25.
