Henry has Phineas And Ferb role
Lenny Henry has revealed he chose to voice a character in Phineas And Ferb - to impress his daughter Billie.
The actor, 53, will feature as the voice of a new character, safari guide Iggy, in a special two-part episode titled Where's Perry? which will premiere on Disney XD on September 6.
"It was a nice thing to do. I started off doing voice-over work in cartoons, CBeebies and CGI stuff, in the vain hope that my daughter might say, 'Hey Dad, I heard you on the TV the other day'," he said.
"To be offered Phineas And Ferb is quite groovy. The last thing I was in was The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists and my daughter said, 'You could have told me you were in Pirates. I was with my friends and it was so embarrassing'. I think she thought that was good, so hopefully she'll think this is good too."
Lenny - who also voices Big and Small in the CBeebies children's show Big & Small - admitted that getting approval from his family drives him to do more.
"I've got other nephews and nieces as well, and because I'm the voice of both Big and Small, they always ask me to do the voices. So I'm hoping when they see this, they will ask me to 'do Iggy'," he said.
