BASINGSTOKE Chamber Orchestra present a very special fundraising children’s concert on Saturday, February 11.
The orchestra, a derivative of Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra, has a membership of more than 60 people and performs big orchestral works as well as smaller scale orchestral repertoire.
Their performance of Peter and the Wolf in Trinity Methodist Church in Sarum Hill at 3pm will support both the Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust, known as Naomi House, and the Jacksplace hospices.
The concert will feature some wonderful music from the likes of Sergei Prokofiev, Gustav Holt and Charles Gounod and it has been deliberately programmed to suit young children and families.
Its aim is to help raise vital funds needed to support all those who attend both Naomi House and Jacksplace. These Sutton Scotney hospices just outside Winchester provide respite, end of life, hospice at home and bereavement care to life-limited children, young adults and their families from all across the south.
Each year approximately £5 million is needed in order continue providing these vital services free of charge.
Natalie Hargreaves, community fundraising co-ordinator for Naomi House said: “We are delighted to be supported by such a wonderful orchestra and hope the concert will be a very special event for local children and their families to enjoy.”
Tickets will be available on the door. To reserve one in advance, e-mail basingstokeco@ gmail.com.
