LEGENDARY rockin’rockers Status Quo are heading to Basingstoke as part of their 2009 UK tour later this year.
The British band is following the enormous success of last year’s Pictures: 40 Years Of Hits album, with a 31-date UK winter tour, including two nights at The Anvil, on November 20 and 21.
The launch event for the Pictures: 40 Years Of Hits album raised more than £110,000 for the Prince’s Trust youth charity. The collection sold over 250,000 copies in the UK alone last year, and has accordingly been certified gold.
The compilation is the band’s 37th chart album and their 29th to reach the top 20 – statistics which put them ahead of The Beatles, and in second place only to the Rolling Stones.
Last year, Status Quo were also crowned Britain’s hardest-working band in the Arena Venues category by the PRS (Performing Right Society), with 35 performances in 2008 to well over 300,000 fans.
