LEVERET and Spiro appear at The Haymarket on Friday, 9 March with The Eccentric Orbits Tour which showcases their distinctive music in a show that flies the flag for new English instrumental music.

Leveret rely on their mutual trust and intuition to create their music entirely in the moment – there are no arrangements and the focus shifts constantly and compellingly between three masters of their instruments. Leveret are Andy Cutting (melodeon), Sam Sweeney (fiddle) and Rob Harbron (concertina).

Spiro’s live shows feature intense ensemble playing which transports audiences on an exhilarating journey far away from their roots in English folk. Spiro are Jane Harbour (violin), Alex Vann (mandolin), Jason Sparkes (accordion) and Jon Hunt (guitar).

Hear the contrasting music of two of England’s finest and most original ensembles in an evening of thrilling new music that combines consummate musicianship, compelling delivery and captivating spontaneity - plus a special joint finale.

One of Germany’s most renowned orchestras, the Stuttgart SWR Symphony Orchestra comes to The Anvil on Thursday, 15 March, conducted by Sir Roger Norrington, fêted for his historically informed performances of Beethoven.

Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi, who has been widely praised for his ‘playful, assertive, intelligent music making, with bone-china clarity’ (The Times), performs Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto which is among the first of Beethoven’s mature masterworks. The opening movement is full of tension and drama, followed by a slow movement, and a vivacious finale.

Also included in the programme is the Eroica symphony, Beethoven’s groundbreaking masterpiece.

The Levellers (acoustic) and Ginger Wildheart (acoustic) are at The Anvil on Tuesday, 20 March.

Celebrating their 30th anniversary, Brighton folk-punk band The Levellers are on tour following the release of their acoustic album recorded at Abbey Road Studios with producer John Leckie.

Emerging victorious through the ups and downs of label deals, spats with the music press, and the wear and tear of touring, The Levellers are still going strong. They are still one of the best live bands around with an impressive back catalogue including the number 1 album Zeitgeist, their platinum-selling 1991 album Levelling The Land, and a number of Top 40 singles including Hope St, Just the One and What a Beautiful Day.

Joining The Levellers for this tour is Ginger Wildheart, leader of the British rock band The Wildhearts.
