THE Classic Rock Show returns to The Anvil on Tuesday, 13 February with a new production, Guitar Greats.

The Classic Rock Show musicians power through anthem after anthem, riff after riff, solo after solo, as they take you on a musical journey through two-and-a-half-hours of footstomping fun, culminating in a show-stopping guitar duel that is definitely not to be missed.

Performed with note-for-note precision, they'll recreate the era-defining recordings on stage whilst celebrating the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits), Eric Clapton, Angus Young (AC/DC), Brian May (Queen), and Pete Townsend (The Who).

With a sound and light show to match, the amazing show pays tribute to the world’s all time guitar greats.

The Czech Philharmonic, one of the world’s greatest orchestras, performs at The Anvil on Friday, 16 February, conducted by Tomáš Netopil and joined by the dynamic Alisa Weilerstein on cello, a regular collaborator with the orchestra.

Founded over a hundred years ago and first conducted by Dvo?ák, the Czech Philharmonic retains its distinctive sound to this day. The concert opens with one of Dvo?ák’s most imaginative works, a series of variations on a Czech folk song. This is followed by Shostakovich’s cello concerto no 1, one of his most significant and successful, and Dvo?ák’s New World symphony, written in America while filled with longing for his Czech homeland, performed in true Czech style by musicians who have grown up with his music.

In the year that marks the 100th anniversary of Czech and Slovak independence, do not miss this treat of a concert.

In The Forge on Thursday, 22 February is Damien O’Kane, the Northern Irish musician of many talents.

For his recent album Areas, he teamed up with master musicians guitarist Steven Byrnes (Treacherous Orchestra/Kate Rusby), percussionist Cormac Byrne (Seth Lakeman Band), Steven Iveson (Kate Rusby/Damien O’Kane Band) and Anthony Davis (Irish Celtic).

His album Areas of High Traffic was nominated for Best Album at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2016.

Sublime and exhilarating arrangements of the old Irish traditional songs, with influences of rock, pop, jazz, electronica and not a trace of gimmickry, O’Kane and his band take traditional Irish music and song and, in the words of the The Telegraph, turn it into ‘folk-pop that is Irish music for the 21st century’.
