HAVING graced our television screens since the age of three, Jimmy Osmond has turned his hand to pretty much every craft in entertainment.

But one thing he will never forget is where he started his career and how thankful he is to the man that gave him a platform.

Along with his brothers, Osmond first appeared as a singer on the Andy Williams Show and now, as a homage and a thank you, he is paying tribute to his friend and mentor with his Moon River and Me show, which comes to The Anvil next month.

The youngest Osmond brother told The Gazette: “He was the best singer and a very underrated performer. Even though he was giving us a spotlight he was the true star.

“I think it is evident how loved he was as people still want to hear his music, and ‘It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year’ was still in the charts this Christmas.”

The show will feature some of Williams’ award-winning music, as well as nostalgic footage and special memories of the showman, as well as Osmond singing some of his own classics.

Currently in the middle of playing Abanazar in Aberdeen’s pantomime of Aladdin, Osmond has now been part of show business for more than five decades, and admits he is still shocked that this is his career.

Having been a TV personality, appearing in various West End Shows and breaking hearts in 2016’s Celebrity Masterchef, Osmond has become the chameleon of entertainment.

He added: “I never thought it would last for as long as it has. For me it was never about being famous it was about having a craft and just doing the best I could with that. Meeting the Queen was a pretty cool thing, but honestly now it is the small things that I really appreciate.

“It is the friends you make along the way, whether that be fellow entertainers or fans who constantly come back to your shows and you make a real connection with. Those are the things that have stuck with me.”

And it is his relationship with his fans that the 54-year-old said he will never take for granted.

“We are all this world together so if we are able to show a little bit of kindness to each other it can make a real difference,” Osmond added.

“When I meet fans, you take on these people’s lives and when I am here in the UK the reaction I get is still mind blowing and that is something I will always hold dear.”
