FatBoyZ Dance Company perform first class street dance and Bollywood. The group was started in 2008 by world street dance champions and award-winning choreographers Liam Dawett and Shivani Dawett. FatBoyZ have a popular and unique style that is taking the UK by storm.

A Jump-Up Drum & Bass DJ/Producer from Basingstoke. He got back involved with Drum & Bass in 2012 by forming Suburban Culture and putting on various D&B nights in the south of the UK. Swae also produces D&B and has had various releases on labels like Alpha9, Filthy Technique and his own label Above Board Records.

7pm Don Dappa

7pm Inna

Born and bred in Reading, Inna has been into music all his life and started writing his own material while in secondary school as a hobby and a laugh.

He found his passion of writing listening to grime and soon became a regular thing meeting with friends writing and going bar for bar. Currently Inna is travelling over UK performing to the many with his witty and catchy lyrics working alongside many great names in drum and bass.

7.50pm Ammy

One of the pioneering DJs of the early Jungalist / DnB movement, Ammy is a veteran DJ of the south coast started DJ'ing in Martines in Eastleigh when he was 14 (circa 1984/7).

Having met so many great DJs and MCs in the scene Ammy is glad to say that he is torn between the scenes as it means you will see him at a DnB event, Hardcore, RnB, House, Garage and many more. Ammy is a regular legend on the local music scene, still going out to play most nights still DJing everywhere.

7.50pm Sonna

Sonna's first introduction to the dance music scene came during the acid house days through to 1990s hardcore. It all changed for him when jungle was born. He spent time mastering his skills and getting recognition from some of the biggest promoters in the scene. He started his own imprint Federation S in 2009 and 2014 saw the birth of a new project It's A Jungle Ting.  

7.50pm MC Impact

Gloucester-based mic man Impact MC has been tearing up stages across Europe and beyond, week in, week out since 2007. As well as being a long standing part the Biological Beats brand, his own imprints Stilla Audio and Skrewface Promotions have been creating waves on both sides of the spectrum, with a string of releases and an events portfolio more than 50 events deep.

Born and bred in Basingstoke, Lyrical D has performed at every club in town, in addition to countrywide and internationally. He has been pushing drum and bass in his hometown as well as all over the UK and overseas with his own promotion company Lost In Bass UK.

Undoubtedly one of the most exciting acts to have emerged in Drum & Bass in recent years, Voltage is a man in demand as a DJ, producer and label owner. Make no mistake - this exciting new producer is killing it in every single angle.

9.05pm Shabba D

By 1994, aged just 14, Hackney-born Shabba was representing at Outrage. By the mid-1990s, he had achieved notoriety on the airwaves and the main stage. He formed SAS with Skibadee, creating one of the biggest MC groups of all time and also set up various enterprises, proving himself to be as sharp in business as he is on the dancefloor. Shabba is regarded as one of the most influential MCs on the D&B circuit.

Sam Carter’s Cartermusic

Produced by Cartermusic Events in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the Sunrise Stage on Sunday at Basingstoke Live 2015 promises to bring sunshine music not matter the weather, featuring the very best in jazz-funk, soul and reggae.

Featuring some of the best Sunrise Sunday performers from over the years, alongside a few fresh and funky, never before seen bands and artists from the local area and beyond.

Compere/Host – Solo Banton

Well known for his performances at Basingstoke Live, reggae artist Solo Banton has made a name for himself on both the UK and International reggae scene with regular shows abroad including Europe, Japan and Russia to name a few.

Solo has performed alongside the likes of Tippa Irie, Daddy Freddy, Congo Natty and regular features with Upper Cut Band and Mungo’s Hifi sound system, along with his own sound system Classic Wonder Veterans.

His live shows go from strength to strength, and his light-hearted style, meaningful lyrics and often comedic take on life have earned him much acclaim.

Selecter/DJ - Skankin Steve

Working alongside Solo Banton to keep you entertained between the acts on Sunrise Stage on Sunday is Skankin Steve, playing a selection of Rocksteady, Ska, Dub and Roots Reggae Vinyl releases from '67 to the present day.

Steve, from Basingstoke, started listening to Dub, Reggae and Ska from the age of 10 when he would ‘skank out’ with his friends listening to the sounds of Bob Marley, Sly & Robbie, Peter Tosh and the 2Tone Ska bands on a ghetto blaster on the streets.

A few years later (2005-2008) we saw Skankin Steve hosting Dub Reggae and Ska nights at Bang Bar under the ‘Vmachine’ banner with help from D.J Mook, Drumrunners and many other good friends from the Basingstoke music scene. More recently Skankin Steve was seen Djing at Dubtastic Music (at Cafe Cairo, London) and also featured at the London International Ska Festival (Easter weekend).

13.00 – 13.45 - Groove Room

Groove Room is a four-piece indie funk collective, blasting soulful dance music in your ear holes. Residing from Hampshire the Groove Room members are all studying music at a degree level, spending the last year honing their live performance.

14.00 – 14.45 - Back2Funk

The boys are back in town! Back2Funk re-group for this special reunion gig at Basingstoke Live, bringing with them a brand spanking new female vocalist and the kind of crowd-pleasing performance that they have become known for.

Back2Funk formed in 2010 was a collaboration between two brothers Andy Jackson (guitar) Roy Jackson (drums) and Keith McMillan (bass).

Coming from Jazz and funk backgrounds and with many years of professional and studio experience between them they decided to join forces and form an authentic ‘70s/’80s funk band covering only the best funk-Soul and disco grooves of that era.

Next Generation – Basingstoke Live showcasing Under18s acoustic performers

15.00 – 15.15 – Aiyshea Boyes

A regular performer in the local area Aiyesha Boyes has performed at local venues such as The Tea Bar, Soul Kitchen, The Finsbury in London along with Oxjam and Vocal Network in Reading where she was crowned Vocal Network Champ in 2013.

Aiyesha has achieved a lot so far for her young age of just 17 years old, performing backing vocals for Reggae Artist Solo Banton a (well-known performer at BLive), appearing on a track for Reading based rapper Silqe and also working on her own track with producer Smiley Smuggler at Boxroom Music, featuring Artist/Rapper Esa Kwame which is due to be released very soon.

15.30 – 15.45 – Hollie Lea Rumsey

Hollie recently performed her very first gig at the Jack Bristow charity fundraiser in Basingstoke where she wowed the crowds with her acoustic performance. An accomplished young guitarist with a voice that belies her 15 years.

16.00 – 17.00 - Fusion 6

Fusion 6 is the brain-child of local musician Andy Kennedy who you may recognise as a resident at Tea Bar in the town centre where he regular performs on saxophone with his jazz quartet.

This new jazz-funk project brings music from JTQ (James Taylor Quartet) Corduroy, Jimmy McGriff, Down To the Bone and more.

Reggae Showcase 'til close: 

17.15 - 18.15 I-Jay and the Acoustic Messenjaz

Featuring I-Jay, the former lead singer of legendary ‘80s band Spliff Riff on guitar and vocals, alongside his Messenjaz - saxophonist Izzi Philo and Bunee Johnson on percussion, the band perform original material as well as a few classic covers originally done.

Now with the introduction of bass guitar, drums and backing vocals, this six piece band bring their unique blend of acoustic Jazz/Reggae and Soul music to Basingstoke Live, a style which has earned them appearances not only in the UK but also in Spain, Germany and the Caribbean.

Jah Screechy

Veteran dancehall sensation Jah Screechy belongs to the Reality Shock Records family and most famous for his anthem Walk and Skank on Blacker Dread Records, a track conceptualized in the dancehall on Sir Lloyd Coxsone sound, where Screechy first toasted over 20 years ago (then known as Jah Screechy Banton).

The original 1984 release Walk and Skank was mixed by Peter Chemist on the Answer Riddim for Blacker Dread and has been remixed by various producers ever since, the most notorious being the 1992 smash from SL2 On a Ragga Tip released on XL records. This instant classic achieved commercial success bringing the anthemic Walk & Skank chorus to a worldwide audience.

As a versatile vocalist with the stamina to survive both rave and reggae sound system shows, Jah Screechy stands shoulder to shoulder on the RSR roster with the likes of Speng Bond and Solo Banton, described collectively by Reality Shock Records label owner Kris Kemist as “a generation of artists who grew up around sound system and can toast lyrics all night long”.
