DON’T miss The Full English at The Anvil on Friday, May 8 at 7.45pm.

The Full English comprises folk singer and scholar Fay Hield, traditional singer and fiddle player Nancy Kerr, boundary-crossing, award-winning singer and songwriter Seth Lakeman, internationally renowned guitarist Martin Simpson, double bassist of choice Ben Nicholls and two of the most dazzling, in-demand multi-instrumentalists playing today, Rob Harbron and Sam Sweeney.

The Full English is a ground-breaking project delivered by the English Folk Dance and Song Society drawing together the most important early 20th century collections into the most comprehensive searchable database of British folk songs, tunes, dances and customs in the world.

These resources are now being used as source and inspirational material for a national learning and participation programme across England.

To mark the launch of the freely available web portal, folk song scholar and acclaimed singer Fay Hield has pulled together half a dozen of the top talents on the English folk music circuit for an evening of new versions of songs drawn from these unique collections.

The singers and musicians shake out the songs into fresh new life with exciting instrumental textures and irresistible sing-a-long choruses. The whole process from transcription to interpretation to performance is laid plain before your eyes and ears.

Winners of the Best Group and Best Album awards at the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, this will be the last chance to see the band on its final tour.
