THE Ferio Saxophone Quartet, an exciting young chamber ensemble formed of graduates from the Royal College of Music, is to perform at The Forge, at The Anvil on Sunday, May 3 at 7.45pm.

The quartet recently won the Royal Overseas League Ensemble Competition.

Since its formation in 2012, Ferio has developed and performed a wide-ranging and varied portfolio of music.

By collaborating with composers to create original concepts, locating lesser known saxophone quartet works and performing the group’s own arrangements, the quartet’s objective is to break the mould of a traditional saxophone quartet.

The quartet’s baritone sax player is Shevaughan Beere, who was brought up in Basingstoke and is a former student of Brighton Hill Community College and Queen Mary’s College.

She graduated from the Royal College of Music last July, and is very excited to be returning to her home town to perform with the quartet.
