NEW York’s electric ensemble, the Bang on a Can All-Stars, present a concert featuring a cast of some of the most innovative composers making music today at The Anvil on Sunday, March 8 at 7.45pm.

The New Yorkers includes recent works by Bang on a Can co-founders Michael Gordon, David Lang, and Julia Wolfe featured on their acclaimed 2012 release Big, Beautiful, Dark, and Scary, plus legendary New York composer Steve Reich’s 2x5 written for electric guitars, electric bass, piano, and drums – first performed in the Manchester velodrome and recently recorded by Bang on a Can.

Formed in 1992, the Bang on a Can All-Stars are recognised worldwide for their ultra-dynamic live performances and recordings of today’s most innovative music.

Freely crossing the boundaries between classical, jazz and rock music, this six-member amplified ensemble has consistently forged a category-defying identity, taking music into uncharted territories.

Performing each year throughout the U.S. and internationally, the All-Stars have shattered the definition of what concert music is today.

Usually found at The Barbican or Manchester International Festival, the concert at The Anvil is their only date in this country in 2015.

Tickets: £22; over 65s £20; under 16s and fulltime students £5 (all tickets include £1 booking fee).
