OPERA & Ballet International present Verdi’s La Traviata in Basingstoke in February.
This love story gripped Paris and is now one of the most performed operas.
You can see it performed at The Anvil on Sunday, February 15 at 7.30pm.
This tragic tale of searing passion is Verdi’s outstanding interpretation of one of the most popular love stories of the 19th century, La Dame aux Camelias.
Based on a true story, it tells of the passionate loves and life of the consumptive courtesan Violetta.
There are many echoes of Verdi’s own life in Traviata and he threw himself into the music. The highlights include the Brindisi, the best known drinking song in opera, the duet Un Di Felice and Violetta’s haunting aria Addio Del Passato.
An Ellen Kent Production with The Chisinau National Opera and Philharmonic, this magnificent performance boasts sumptuous sets and lavish costumes.
Tickets: £28 to £36; over 65s £2 off; tickets for under 16s and fulltime students from £14.50 to £18.50 (all tickets include £1 booking fee).
