NO sense letting the cold and rain spoil your New Year.

I had got to start as I meant to carry on, so I zoomed up to Reading for my first show of 2015.

I arrived to discover that the four bands were now only three, the headliners having pulled out at the last minute. So first up and from Reading it was Dinosaur Crush, a very impressive, female-fronted alternative band.

Basingstoke Gazette:

The grotty weather and AWOL headliners were soon forgotten as the band played one fine song after another. I was most impressed to being seeing such a good band after the gig-drought over Christmas.

Next up and from Basingstoke were Amethyst Kyss, who have been making a good name for themselves, getting invited back to places they have already played.

Basingstoke Gazette:

I knew I was on safe turf with these pop-rockers and as always, they blasted out a very enjoyable set. I know they songs quite well now and they are like old friends.

They were well received by the crowd. A very good start to the year, which I think is just going to get better and better for them.

The new headliners were another alternative Reading band by the name of Their Turn to Lose - and I believe they were down a guitarist.

Basingstoke Gazette:

However, that did not phase them. They got straight down to business and as with the rest of the bands, they put on a very good performance.

Not heavy, heavy, but that's fine, sometimes you just like to relax and enjoy. I feel sure I will be checking these guys out again soon.

Thanks to all the bands for playing, to Rockbitch Jon for doing the sound and to the management and staff for hosting the night.
