A CONCERT of festive and family favourites will be given by Deane Sinfonia and St Mary's CE Junior School Choir at the weekend.
In addition to Christmassy and seasonal songs from the Choir, the orchestra will play the ever-popular Sleigh Ride, music from Pirates of the Caribbean, and excerpts from the Nutcracker Suite.
The highlight of the evening will be a performance of Bruch's 1st Violin Concerto, given by talented young violinist, Emily Mowbray. The Bruch has consistently been in the top ten of Classic FM's Hall of Fame and is full of exuberant energy and glorious melodies.
Emily started playing the violin at the age of four, and is currently in the final year of her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music.
She played in the National Children's Orchestra, and later the National Youth Orchestra, and as a soloist has performed recitals and concertos all over the country.
Hear Emily, Deane Sinfonia and St Mary's CE Junior School Choir in Queen Mary's Hall, QMC, Cliddesden Road, on Saturday, December 6.
This concert begins at 6.30pm. Tickets will be available on the door.
Admission costs £7 (£5 concessions) and a family ticket for two adults and two children is £20.
