Jamie T

Southampton Guildhall

Friday, October 31

JAMIE T continued his outstanding comeback tour with a night to remember in Southampton.

The indie guitar hero received a roaring welcome from a packed and boisterous Friday night Guildhall crowd. Everything was set to make this a special Halloween weekend.

As Jamie and his band launched into their set, it was already mayhem at the front. Meanwhile, more of his excited fans, some in full ghost and ghouls outfits, were already dancing beyond the sound desk.

By the end of the evening, they were almost bursting out onto Guildhall Square.

Songs from his latest release Carry on the Grudge, were big hits on the night. Rabbit Hole and Don’t You Find are already classics from what is already an album of the year.

It has been a long five years wait for new material, but if that is how long it takes then few will hold it against Jamie for taking time to produce such good work.

After a frantic first hour, things slowed down momentarily with a fantastic acoustic interlude that included songs Emily’s Heart and Love is only a Heartbeat Away.

Things didn’t stay still for long with the bouncing Hocus Pocus and 368 from the album Kings & Queens reliving memories from Jamie’s last major tour.

The best was yet to come with an astounding encore, including one of the songs of the summer, Zombie, and the ever popular Sticks and Stones.

It may have been a long time, but after this performance there is no doubt that the South still loves indie, still loves British hip-hop and, now, more than ever, still loves Jamie T.
