THE Apollo Big Band are to close The Lions' Variety for Charity Concert 2014 season.

The Lions Club of Basingstoke is delighted to welcome the band back to Queen Mary’s College.

The Apollo Big Band were a huge success when they came to Basingstoke in 2013. Formed in 2001 and based at Stockcross, Berkshire, the band is a non-profit society.

The band, which features 17 musicians, plays the original scores back to Glenn Miller as well as more contemporary arrangements, and their key objective is to promote interest and participation in music from the big band era.

In addition to playing in Hampshire and Berkshire, the band has performed in Holland, Germany and Switzerland.

Strong solo spots are featured along with supporting vocalists.

The concert will take place at Queen Mary’s Hall, QMC, Cliddesden Road, on Saturday, November 29 at 7.30pm.

There will be a bar and the customary warm welcome to returning audience members and newcomers.

The Lions’ 2014 season has been a great success. Funds raised from these events have been significant, giving the Lions Club the opportunity to bring relief to many worthwhile causes in the town.

The entire proceeds from this evening will go to the Basingstoke branch of The Multiple Sclerosis Society, an organisation which is recognised as bringing great support to those who suffer from this debilitating disease.
