BASINGSTOKE Ladies’ Choir (BLC) and Basingstoke Male Voice Choir (BMVC) will join forces on Saturday, November 1, for an exciting and memorable concert.

The event will welcome their next 50 years of the joy of coming together to sing. As their golden jubilee year draws to a close, the two choirs will entertain and inspire with a fun collection of songs.

Old and new members of the choirs will be celebrating 50 glorious singing years with hits from the swinging sixties, well known musicals, and much more.

Some members of the choirs will be celebrating nearly 50 years of membership and for some it will be their first performance.

Come along and enjoy the celebrations on from 6.30pm at St Bede’s Church, Popley

Tickets priced £8 are available from Jan Hodges on 01256 781035 / 07771848437, Dawsons Music in Festival Place or on the door.

*New members of BLC and BMVC are always welcomed.

Annie Eagle is the newest member of BLC, having joined after seeing an advert in The Gazette.

She said: “The last time I sang in a choir was when I was at primary school so I wasn’t sure how I would get on but I have really enjoyed the combination of fun and challenge!

“Everyone has been very welcoming. Learning new songs has given my brain a much needed workout but singing together has been a therapeutic relaxation in my hectic week. I love it.”

Bill Burywood from BMVC said: “I have been a member of BMVC for more than 40 years and I really love it. I have made so many good friends there it’s like having a second family to me and my wife.”

The choirs meet in Basingstoke on Monday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
