Basingstoke Live 2014
July 12-13, War Memorial Park, Basingstoke
Basingstokelive.co.uk
THE centrally located Creative Stage is the place for a new punk stage on the Saturday and young acts on the Sunday.
With a theme of Carnival running through the whole weekend, Drum Runners will be creating an amazing backdrop for the acts that will be performing.
Saturday’s theme is Circus of Horrors (think Hallowe’en in July) and Sunday’s is Carnival of Sun (think Rio De Janeiro) and both will be created in a blacked out marquee, UV Lights and banners.
The Saturday will see young and seasoned punk veterans making a studded impact and whilst the punk fashion is alive and well the acts have been asked to dress to impress even more than they usually do!
Expect a whacky punk carnival of hard-edged guitars and fast paced no nonsense grit and gristle.
The Sunday will be a place to delight in local young performers topped off by a Carnival finale with DJ Trubeats, dance, drums and a colourful spectacle of UV T-shirts and face masks that everyone is invited to make and wear.
Creative Stage highlights this year include young band It Varies performing their mix of pop-punk and rock; Half Cut Roses, a four-piece band from Basingstoke whose influences include Nirvana, amongst others, and Pussycat and the Dirty Johnsons.
The formidable Pussycat is renowned for prowling the audience whilst the adrenaline fuelled Dirty Johnson boys pound out their infectious blend of dirty punk'n'roll.
Creative Arena
Directly outside the Creative Stage there's something for everyone - magic, music, dancing, drum workshops, and the opportunity for you to join in.
There’s also the 3 Run Free Runners, Drum Runners “Carnival Style”, Graffiti Wall, dance showcases from Happy Feet Dance Academy, a Chill Out Zone, soft play equipment, face and nail painting, UV T-shirt printing, mask making with Basingstoke Young Carers and lots of youth activities and games brought to you by Basingstoke Voluntary Action Youth Team.
