TWO talented young performers from the county have attracted the attention of the world’s media with their online music video.

George O’Shea and Lloyd Smallwood, both of whom are 15 years-old and attend Amery Hill School in Alton, filmed their cover of No Diggity/Thrift Shop and uploaded it to YouTube.

It went viral in just two days, and has attracted over 240,000 hits to date. It has also been picked up and recommended by countless online sites including America’s CBS News.

In addition, the boys have been Tweeted about by rock legend Kiss’s Gene Simmons, and have been approached by industry in both the UK and US. They have also begun to receive fan mail from around the world.

George is a Basingstoke boy, having lived here with his mum, well-known local promoter Sam Carter, until last year, when he moved in with his dad.

The duo first performed at the Basingstoke Live under-18s Next Generation section of the Creative Stage in 2013 with their friend Imogen Clifford, an extremely talented young singer-songwriter in her own right.

They have also initiated another songwriting project with Imogen in addition to their work with Coincidental.

George and Lloyd said: “We are both very pleased in the success of our video and it was a huge shock to see our video become viral so quick.

“We would like to thank everyone who has shared and 'liked' our video and subscribed to our YouTube channel CoincidentalMusic.

“Our hopes for the future would be to get more experience performing live gigs, maybe some competitions.

“We've had some interest from the music industry but we have to get through our GCSEs first!”
