BASINGSTOKE'S own boy band, Concept, have sold out their first home town headline concert in just six days.

The acoustic boy band consists of five local lads - Karim Newton, Ben Selley, Matt Goodenough, Scott Dicks and Nathan Gittens – who are aged between 18 and 19 and who all share a passion for music and performing. Ben, who is from Tadley, is a cousin of One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles.

Concept take their inspiration from five diverse musical genres, preferring to mix R&B, hip-hop, soul, and rock and pop to create something unique with just guitar and vocals.

The group of friends have known each other since the age of five, and they started the band whilst at Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke.

They have gone from strength to strength since then. Last year saw them perform support slots for Example, Chase and Status, District 3, Marcus Collins, Diversity, Lawson, The Lovable Rogues, Stooshie, Ronan Parke plus their good friends Twist & Pulse.

The band also finished as runners up in the MTV’s Brand New For 2013 as well as appearing in OK magazine and Teen Now’s Christmas edition.

With over 57,000 followers on Twitter and with two single releases under their belt, Concept are delighted to be headlining their own home town gig.
