AWARD-winning theatre company ShadyJane bring a little bit of Paris to Basingstoke with free interactive exhibition The Salon from Tuesday, June 26 until Thursday, June 28.

The Salon is an artist network and sharing event for women, and echoes events taking place in Paris at the beginning of the 20 th century: with nowhere to exhibit their work, female artists and writers improvised and held sharings in their living rooms.

Over 100 years later, ShadyJane will be doing the very same thing, but instead of using their living room, they will be taking over The Shop Gallery at 2a Church Street in the town centre for only three days.

During this time they will be sharing their own work as well as inviting other female artists to join them and share their thoughts and ideas. Audiences are encouraged to join in the fun, with both men and women welcomed into The Salon.

The three days will include all kinds of events including readings, interactive performance, poetry, discussions and more.

ShadyJane, a company who specialise in creating interactive work based on the stories of women from history and literature, won a Total Theatre Award at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the Emerging Company category. The artists are University of Winchester graduates and associate artists at The Point in Eastleigh.

*See them in The Shop between 3pm and 5pm from June 26-28. Entrance is free.
