BACK by popular demand, the next autism friendly film screening in Basingstoke’s ODEON will be Happy Feet Two on Sunday, December 18.
Leading social care support provider Dimensions and cinema chain ODEON launched the special screenings to campaign for greater cinema access for people with autism.
Family animation Happy Feet Two will be shown in a sensory friendly environment at ODEON Basingstoke at 11.30am. Lights will be left on low, the volume will be turned down, trailers will be omitted and people can move around the cinema or make noise as they feel comfortable. ODEON Basingstoke is one of more than 60 ODEON cinemas taking part across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Lisa Hopkins from Dimensions Autism Lead, said: “We are really pleased that ODEON will be screening Happy Feet Two in a sensory friendly environment. This film appeals to people of all ages and means that families and friends can enjoy the cinema experience together in an inclusive environment. Our first ever Autism Friendly Film screening was Mr Popper’s Penguins and more than 3000 people came out in support of it; I’m sure that the Happy Feet penguins will prove just as popular.”
Autism friendly film screenings are recommended to anyone who would benefit from the subtle alterations made to the cinema auditorium.
