TWO big acting names are starring in an off-Broadway hit production made famous by a Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino film.
Kelly (Top Gun) McGillis and West End and film actor Rolf Saxon are performing in a lavish new production of Terrence McNally’s classic love story, Frankie & Johnny in the Clare de Lune, at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.
The play, set in 1980s New York, is coming to the Guildford venue from February 8 to 13.
The story follows hard-boiled waitress Frankie and cock-sure chef Johnny, who find themselves in bed together after a first date. Johnny is certain he has found his soulmate, but Frankie is far more cautious and less inclined to jump to conclusions.
As the night unfolds, they slowly begin to reveal themselves to each other as they take tentative steps towards the start of a possible relationship in this funny and tender romantic comedy.
McGillis is known for box office film smashes, including Witness with Harrison Ford, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination, The Accused, and of course 1986’s Top Gun. Her stage appearances include Sir Peter Hall’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hedda Gabler on Broadway.
Saxon’s many films include Mission: Impossible and Entrapment. His West-End roles include Billy Flynn in Chicago, and The Seven Year Itch opposite Darryl Hannah.
Tickets for the show can be booked from the box office on 01483 440000 or online at yvonne-arnaud.co.uk.
