A MARILYN Monroe dress is among the treats at an upcoming Basingstoke exhibition.

Film and music fans will enjoy The Willis Museum’s Up Close and Personal exhibition, opening on January 23 and featuring a collection of props and personal belongings from big names in showbiz.

Items include a Dangerous Tour jacket worn by the late, legendary Michael Jackson, Fred Astaire and Geri Halliwell’s shoes and the highlight of the show – which is running until March 27 – is Marilyn Monroe’s favourite little black dress.

Also on display are a coat from Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, Doris Day’s rhinestone bracelet and Elizabeth Taylor’s earrings.

Props include a cast of Jim Carey’s mask in the film Mask, and the electro-magnetic boots from sci-fi flick Face Off, while younger filmgoers might prefer Austin Powers and Batman props.

There is also Star Wars memorabilia and visitors of all ages will recognise props from films including Titanic, The Flintstones and The Addams Family.

More information is available by calling the museum – which is in Market Place, Basingstoke – on 01256 465902, or online at hants.gov.uk/willis-museum.
