VAMOS Theatre presents A Brave Face at The Haymarket on Wednesday, 21 February at 7.30pm.

Set in Afghanistan during 2009, a small girl stands and watches the soldier. She smiles, just like his sister.

Ryan is there to see the world, learn a trade, get a life. Training is complete, combat is a buzz; he’s part of a team, and knows his job. But on one particular hot and desperate tour of duty, Ryan sees things he can’t talk about, to anyone. And then, when he returns home, the trouble really begins.

A Brave Face explores post traumatic stress and the impact it can have on even the closest of families. The production has been created from over two years of extensive research into post traumatic stress in the military, talking and working with ex- and serving soldiers and their families, as well as mental health practitioners, journalists, and charity staff.

With compassion and fearlessness, Vamos brings its trademark, wordless, full mask style to a story that needs to be told.

The following evening at The Anvil, Jimmy Osmond brings his show Moon River and Me to Basingstoke, the only official Andy Williams tribute show.

Full of award-winning music, nostalgic footage and special memories of Andy Williams, hear the songs including Music to Watch Girls By, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Almost

There, May Each Day and, of course, the song that was to become his theme tune, Moon River.

Jimmy will be joined by his singers and The Moon River Band, and, naturally, a show with an Osmond would not be complete without some of the chart-topping hits that made Jimmy and his brothers famous.

Lloyd and Rose Buck appear at The Haymarket on Saturday, 24 February with their afternoon show Our Life with Birds.

The couple are passionate about birds and have been acknowledged as world experts at tracking and in-flight filming with birds.

It’s not often you see birds on stage in a theatre and even more rare to see one flying over the audience. But Our Life with Birds promises to give audiences an opportunity to meet Golden Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, hawks, owls, starlings and many more - all raised and trained with the utmost loving care by Lloyd and Rose.

Over the last 25 years, the pair have devoted their lives to taking care of birds and mastering the art of capturing them on film. They have worked with Sir David Attenborough, Steve Backshall, Bear Grylls, Michaela Strachan, Chris Packham, and Kate Humble, and are frequent guests on programmes such as Springwatch and Countryfile.

From Tilly the Golden Eagle to Poppy the pigeon, it’s unusual to find Lloyd and Rose without one of their feathered family under their arms.

Our Life with Birds, illustrated with Lloyd and Rose’s own film footage and photography, is suitable for all ages and promises an interactive wildlife experience.
