A YOUNG actress from Oakley has the opportunity to play the role she always enjoyed most about pantomimes.

Hannah Lowther, will take to the stage of the King’s Theatre in Portsmouth this festive season as Princess Snow White.

“The princess is just the most amazing role and I Snow White is one of my personal favourites as well,” said the 20-year-old.

“You can act as a role model for all the young girls in the audience and that is something I am really looking forward to doing.”

The Italia Conti Arts Academy of Theatre graduate will be making her panto debut when she starts the run, which starts on December 5.

However, the role nearly slipped through Hannah’s grasps.

She said: “I couldn’t make the first auditions, so I had to send of a really cringey audition video for my first audition.

“I thought it was so awkward that I wouldn’t get a call back, but I did and when I turned up I thought it would be a second casting call, but there were only five or six of us, I then thought ‘oh this is the final stage’ and I couldn’t believe it.”

As part of her role as Princess Snow White, Hannah will have to make a number of media appearances and get involved in the general Christmas spirit of the seaside city, as well as performing in 46 shows.

“It will take a lot of stamina doing so many performances, but I am really looking forward to it and it will be a really good experience for me,” added Hannah.

Hannah will be joining the cast of Melinda Messenger, Anita Harris, Marcus Patrick, Jack Edwards and Simon Grant who will round off the performance.

“This is a fabulous opportunity and I cannot wait to meet the cast and get started in rehearsals.” said Hannah.
