BASINGSTOKE and Deane’s brightest stars will have the opportunity to shine on the stage of its premier theatre next month.  More than 300 local performers, including singers, dancers, musicians and stand-up acts, will take centre stage as part of this year’s Basingstoke Variety Show.

The annual event promises to showcase a variety of brilliant talent – from soloists to schools and groups.

Compered by Basingstoke born ventriloquist and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Steve Hewlett, the evening will include performances from Basingstoke Academy of Dancing, Dance Phaze, Lisa Beaumont School of Ballet, Happy Feet Dance Academy, Stagecoach, Spotlight Centre, and Limelight, the the youth group of Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society (BAOS) plus other solo acts and performers from local schools.

Producer of the show Ian Aherne said: “We are very excited to be showcasing some of the best talent in and around Basingstoke and are delighted to be working with many groups and artists for the first time.  “It is always very special to have over 300 performers filling the Anvil with live music.  “So please put the date in your diary. It will be a very fun, upbeat evening for all ages and a fantastic way to raise money for a very worthwhile Mayor’s Charity Appeal.”

Held on October 7, the showcase will also be raising money for charity, with all the proceeds being donated to the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane’s Community Chest Charity Appeal.  This year the charity appeal is working with Basingstoke Voluntary Action (BVA) to award money via a grants panel to local good causes.  Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Councillor Paul Frankum added: “Basingstoke’s got talent – and this is your chance to enjoy an evening of fantastic entertainment from our community.  “The feel-good factor is even better as funds raised from the show will go into my community chest to benefit good local causes.”

Tickets cost £15 for adults and £11 for over 65s and under 16s, including a £2 booking fee.
