A NEWBURY theatre will play home to a unique take on one of Oscar Wilde’s best-known plays.

The Watermill Theatre will be the home of an all new all-female cast version of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Director Owen Horsley is set to produce a stripped-back version of Wilde’s gothic masterpiece which will run from September 18 to September 23 before going on a schools tour. Wilde’s story of moral disintegration has been adapted by Phoebe Eclair-Powell and will be performed in a fast-paced 75 minute production by a cast of three, Eva Feiler, Emily Stott and Emma MacDonald.

Horsley said: “This production is a sharp dissection of Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece, focusing on the world of narcissism and pleasure. Phoebe Eclair-Powell’s version is full of Wilde’s legendary wit and bite and weaves together the story with a new energy and immediacy.”
