THERE is no rest for Basingstoke rapper Dan Amps, better known as Signal, as he is on the promotional trail of his new EP.

With the release of his new six-track EP Progression, the 25-year-old has been working relentlessly to get a buzz about the record.

Having played two shows in Andover and Newbury respectively, followed by a weekend of EP distribution around Basingstoke, Signal told The Gazette you need to put in the effort to get the results.

He said: “The support for the EP has been amazing, and it is really great to see everyone posting about it on social media.

“I keep getting things popping up on my Snapchat of people posting the artwork and it is quite overwhelming.”

It is this social media drive which the Popley rapper believes is essential to his success.

He added: “I take a lot of influence from people like Bugzy Malone and Chipmunk, and you just need to look at their social media presence and equate that to their success.

“So if you take that as a platform and try and emulate that you can always try and get somewhere.

“The way I see it is that music and branding go hand in hand, and you need to treat it as such, so the more people see my name and branding then the easier it will be for me to get my music in front of people.”

Signal is not resting of his laurels, wish a double feature this weekend to mark the official launch of Progression.

On Saturday, August 19, Signal will be performing at the White Hart, in London Road, before nipping across to Fever for the official launch night.

“I just like to keep busy, but I really feel like I have the backing of Basingstoke and it is great to have that support to allow me to do things like this,” added the rapper.

“I mean I would love to break places like London, Birmingham and Manchester, but I think it is so important to get the support of your home town as a launching pad.”

Progression is now available on iTunes.
