AFTER wowing the crowd at Basingstoke Live, Tadley teenager Paige Heath has taken the next step in her musical career by launching her debut album.

The 15-year-old sings from the heart and her music is all complimented by the unique sounds of her ukulele, which is demonstrated on her album Imperfections.

Having started singing at the age of six, the Hurst Community College student has a large back catalogue of songs, and finally decided to take the plunge and get some of her material recorded.

“My mum had said to me that noticed I had a lot of song and I was taking things seriously,” Paige told The Gazette.

“So she sort of hinted at the idea of doing an album.

“And having the support of my singing teacher he pushed me and he made it very easy to do it.”

It appears that compiling a record is something which just came naturally for the teenager, and this seems to be a running theme for the singer/song writer.

Having been writing music from a young age, it did not take Paige long to find an instrument which fits her style and having now played the ukulele for four years, her song writing goes hand in hand with her instrument of choice.

She added: “I was playing it [the ukulele] at school and then I discovered a YouTuber called Doddie who played the ukulele and sang so she was an influence on what I wanted to do.

“Even though I had these songs written before I picked up a ukulele I just wanted an instrument which would transfer easily and that’s how it has been since.”

Even though the 15-year-old’s music sounds emotionally-driven, she says song writing in something that has come quite naturally to her.

She added: “A lot of people ask me how I do it and to be honest I couldn’t really tell you.

“It usually starts with a word and spider diagram it out and that is how the ideas come about.

“Sometimes it can be focused on thing I have done or the people around me.”

After playing Basingstoke Live and various venues around Basingstoke and Deane in recent months, Paige said her dream is to write and record music for a living and the release of her debut album Imperfections is a step in the right direction.
