AS VARSITY Pro Wrestling (VPW) gets ready to return to Basingstoke tonight, with its headline match carries huge implications for the two competitors.

The next show at The Vyne School, will see the Devonshire Powerhouse Chris Andrews go one-on-one with the Body Warren Brady, with the winner getting a shot at the VPW heavyweight championship.

With the stakes so high and a shot at The Destroyer Max Von Schultz’s title on the line, The Gazette caught up with Andrews ahead of the match.

At 32-years-old, the man originally from Devon believes 2017 is his year, and said he will have the Basingstoke faithful in his corner.

Andrews said: “I’ve been a pro athlete for over 12 years now. last year alone won six British heavyweight titles, beating notable WWE superstars.

“This year I have relocated to just outside Basingstoke. So, while Brady is down the beaches of his home town Bournemouth working on his tan, I’m spending three hours per day, six days a week in the gym. I’m bigger faster, and have more endurance in the ring than any other Pro wrestler on British soil.”

He added: “I represent the people of Basingstoke. Originally from Devon, but I stand up for the little guy. I’ve always been the little guy, until I joined a gym. After he steps in the ring with me on August 4 Warren’s going to need to join a physical rehabilitation centre, an if I was him I’d get them to check out his bruised ego too.”

Having faced off against the liked of former WWE superstar Billy Gunn and former TNA wrestler Gunner, Andrews has the experience to back his words up, unlike his opponent who has been trying to play head games in the run up to the match.

Andrews added: “It’s business as usual for me. This is what I do. I’m used to people who look like my sister running their mouths and not backing it up so this is just another day in the office.

“To be honest I’m just counting down the days until I get to wrap my hands around his skinny little neck.”

Andrews will go head-to-head with Warren Brady on August 4, when doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost £10 for adults or £8 for children. For more information or to purchase a ticket visit varsityprowrestling.com.
