THOUSANDS of people are descending on a North Hampshire village today for the start of a major summer festival.

Entertainment at CarFest South begins this evening at Laverstoke Park Farm, when Will Young, ABC, The Darkness, Jools Holland and Texas will take to the stage.

The festival, founded by BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, raises money for BBC Children in Need, and includes a host of fun across the weekend.

Along with live music on the main stage, from acts including James Morrison, Rick Astley, Stereophonics, Jamie Lawson, Ronan Keating and Status Quo, festival goers will also enjoy a jam-packed weekend of entertainment including a tracking sprint show with an eccentric, eclectic and exciting line-up of vehicle, a food fair, showground arena displays, a big top circus tent and outdoor activities for children.
