THE National Trust is hosting a programme of festive activities throughout December at its historic property in Basingstoke.
The Vyne, in Sherborne St John, will be richly decorated for a country house family Christmas next month.
Seven show rooms at the former Tudor palace will be open to visitors taking them on an historic journey through Christmas past, revealing festive traditions and true stories of the characters who lived there in previous centuries.
From December 19 to 22, The Vyne's elves will be hard at work with their preparations for Christmas.
Younger visitors can help them out in the bustling Cracker Factory, where they can make their own crackers to take home, at a cost of £3 per child.
Booking is essential by calling 01256 883858.
There will also be cosy winter storytelling and carol singing.
