MUSIC aficionados across north Hampshire have the chance to nominate their favourite musical personalities in the area at an awards ceremony.

Recording artist Jamie Pitter of JTM Records has organised the event in a bid to get musicians in Basingstoke praised in their home town.

People have until Saturday (November 21) to nominate their favourite band, artist or performer ahead of the 2016 Basingstoke Music Awards on January 23.

The event will be held at QMC Central Studio in Cliddesden Road.

Jamie believes that these awards “should and will create awareness of the rich pool of talent within this wonderful old town”.

He said: “This event is an awards ceremony in recognition of the artists, performers, organisers, volunteers and venues involved in the rock, pop and alternative music scene in the Basingstoke and surrounding areas.

“To celebrate those who have worked so hard to encourage young and established Artists in the pursuit of a career in the music industry.”

Like the Brit Awards the evening will be a showcase for Basingstoke's vibrant music scene and will be introduced by radio presenter Mandy O'Neale.
