FIVE ambitious local artists have joined forces to form a new art collective.

Artikinesis - Adeliza Mole, Elinor Cooper, Amanda Bates, Brian Marchant and Rosemary Lawrey – have a mission statement to make art wherever they happen to be, fired and inspired by nature and by life in the modern world. They aim to connect with places where art is a stranger.

Artikinesis represents inner vision, interaction, movement and spirit.

Their first joint art exhibition is entitled The Basingstoke Project. It will be on display in the Proteus Creation Space, Council Road, from November 16-26.

The art on display will all have been produced over the past three months. The pictures themselves range from traditional views of more and less obvious landmarks of Basingstoke old and new, to more abstract or fantastical interpretations, as well as portraits of people of the town.

There will be works in oil, acrylic paintings, pen and ink, block prints and mixed media, as well as digital works.

Artikinesis commented: “The work is a celebration of a uniquely fascinating town.

“The members hope that the exhibition will inspire and fire the imaginations of everyone who visits it, and that even people who have lived in Basingstoke for a long time will learn something they didn’t know about the town, or will see some aspect of it in a new way.”

Entry is free.
