BASINGSTOKE’S Fluid Motion Theatre Company will hold auditions for its National Theatre Connections project next month.

The company is looking for a group of twenty young actors aged between 12 and 18 to form the cast for the production of its Connections play.

The group will work every week from October until February, rehearsing with a professional director to explore all aspects of theatre-making and learning how to produce a new play for theatre.

The first public performances will take place sometime between February and March 2016 in Basingstoke with a second public performance at Salisbury Playhouse sometime between March and May 2016.

There is also the possibility of performing at the National Theatre in London in July 2016 if the Fluid Motion play is selected.

Connections is the National Theatre’s annual festival of new plays for youth theatres and schools. In 2015, it involved 10 writers, 255 youth theatre companies, 5,000 young people, 684 performances, 27 partner theatres and 25,000 audience members.

Fluid Motion’s auditions will take place on Friday, October 9 at 5pm in Aldworth School, Basingstoke.

The audition process will last two hours and will consist of a workshop led by Fluid Motion’s artistic director Leigh Johnstone, followed by a short monologue or other solo performance piece by each young person.

To book a place for the audition or to find out more, call Leigh on 01256 423836 or email leigh@fluidmotiontheatre.co.uk.
