INSIGHT 2015, the flagship taster exhibition of Open Studios 2015, is now open to the public at New Greenham Arts, Greenham Business Park.

Pat Eastop, who passed away last year, created the Open Studios Scheme in 1988 in association with the Newbury Spring Festival to support and promote the work of local artists.

In the first year there were just 20 artists in the scheme. Under Pat's nurturing and guidance, this grew to over 250 artists registered with Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hampshire, of which more than 100 take part in the scheme annually.

Insight 2015 features over 200 artworks, including experimental pieces alongside traditional scenes, and includes sculpture, paintings, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, edible art and other disciplines.

A number of local artists are also participating in the Open Studios scheme this year including Kingsclere’s Amanda Bates, Tadley’s Adeliza Mole and Pamber End’s Amanda Siegert. You’re invited to go and visit them in their studios, talk to them and watch them work.

The Insight exhibition runs until May 25.

The exhibition is open daily Monday to Sunday and is free to visit from 11am to 5pm. Late night openings apply on Thursdays until 8pm.

Full details of all the participating artists and their studio opening hours are available online at open-studios.org.uk.
