HAVE some half term fun with the National Trust in Hampshire.

If the children have been stuck indoors, then half term is the perfect opportunity to get outside and have some holiday fun at the area’s NT properties.

At The Vyne, near Basingstoke, there will be a host of organised ‘50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾’ nature challenges.

Learn how to make a proper woodland camp with the den-building experts, or peek into a secret underwater world on our pond dipping session.

Young imaginations can run wild in the Hidden Realm play area, whilst trails take them on adventures across meadows to wetlands and woodlands. Don’t forget to check out the spacious bird hide to get a bird’s-eye view of The Vyne’s feathered visitors.

Basingstoke Gazette:

50 things to do before you’re 11¾: February 14 – 22, 12 – 1pm, normal admission plus £2 per activity. No booking required.

Visit Mottisfont, near Romsey, and take part in crafty fun for kids on the ‘Get the picture’ trail, inspired by Mottisfont’s photography exhibition. Take a picture frame around the gardens to ‘capture’ some ideas, then recreate them using the craft materials available in the learning and community space.

Children will also love admiring the hundreds of tiny snowdrops that litter the river banks of this ancient former priory.

Get the Picture trail: February 14-22, 10am – 5pm. Normal admission plus £1 per trail.

Medieval working water mill Winchester City Mill is an exciting place for a family half-term visit. Every day throughout the holiday there are daily activities, and quizzes with prizes for all participants.

At weekends, visitors can enjoy live milling demonstrations and find out how this fully restored mill produces flour using the incredible power generated by the river Itchen.

February 14-22, 11am – 4pm, normal admission charge only.
