PUPILS from Basingstoke’s Footsteps Dance School achieved success at the International Dance Teachers Association Nationwide UK Championships at the weekend in Blackpool.
Mia Scannelli, who is 11 years-old, became a UK champion in rock and roll and Mitchell Ferris and Morgan Sadler were UK runners-up.
The dance school’s pupils attended the regional South East heats earlier this year. Any dancers achieving a top 12 position are then sent forward to represent the area at the national championships.
Joining Mia, Mitchell and Morgan were Austen Champion, Brooke Parry, Ellen Linklater, Lucy Fenner, Jasmine Clarke, Lucy Watson, Vicki King and Chris Dale.
Janine Sadler, principal of Footsteps, explained: “When at Blackpool, there can be 80-100 competitors. To reach the top six for a final is outstanding and to become runner ups and champion is an awesome accomplishment.
“I am thrilled for these children. Their hard work, great attitude and supportive parents are a credit to our school and we’re extremely proud of them all.”
