AUTHOR Alan Gallop will be giving an illustrated talk on the history of German U-boats on Thursday, November 20 at 2pm in Basingstoke Discovery Centre.

German U-boat submarines were designed for rapid attack and sunk 14.1 million tons of British and allied merchant shipping.

Using rare illustrations of U-boats in action, Alan Gallop will take the audience below deck to learn how crews coped for up to four months at a time in damp, cramped, humid and stinking conditions.

Tickets are £3, and can be booked online from the Hanstweb online shop, by calling 01256 478670, or by visiting the Discovery Centre in Festival Place.
