A WEEKEND of free activities is to take place at Proteus Creation Space as part of the Fun Palaces national event.

Fun Palaces celebrates arts, culture and sciences, and will take over the Council Road venue on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday 5.

11am – 12pm: iPad art talk with the artist Sue Howe

12pm: Puppet workshop for kids and families at The Haymarket

1.30 – 2.30pm: Crochet workshop for all ages with ‘Eden Reborn’ (edenreborn.com)

2pm: Knight Time Performance for families at The Haymarket

3pm: Puppet workshop with Nick Ash at The Haymarket

5pm: Wii Olympics with medals + old fashioned board game championships

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5

11.30am – 12.30: Come along after cheering your running friends and family for the start of the Basingstoke Half Marathon to a family fitness session with yoga led by Pachi Lopez (yogaum.co.uk)

12 – 2pm: The Science of Spinning: spinning wheels and the art and science of wool with Catherine Hopkins

3pm: Free film screening of Proteus’ 2010 critically acclaimed production of Houdini (PG), which used physical performance, circus, magic and music to tell his remarkable story.

7.30pm: Free performance of 12:10:15 at Rooksdown Community Centre, recommended viewing age of 15+ A hard hitting, intelligent and contemporary look at the female perspective of conflict.
