THE iPad sketches and photo-montages of local artist Sue Howe will go on display at Proteus Creation Space this week.

This exhibition is Sue’s first at the Council Road venue.

Since the beginning of 2013, most of Sue Howe’s 2-D work has been created on an iPad.

She explained: “My inspiration for using an iPad for drawing came from David Hockney's Landscapes exhibition at the Royal Academy in 2012. His extraordinary, huge and vibrant canvases originating from his iPhone and iPad validated computer-based art as a credible medium.

“It differs from other computer-based art because a tablet is so tactile and portable. It can be grasped like a sketchbook and does not confine you to a desk”.

The exhibition, which runs from Saturday, October 4 until October 16, also includes a small selection of traditional watercolours and pencil drawings.

Sue will talk about her process in the Creation Space on the opening day at 11am as part of the Fun Palaces project.
