JOURNALIST Kate Adie is to talk about her work as a war correspondent at a fundraising event in Bagnor’s Watermill theatre.

Her coverage of the 1980 siege of the Iranian embassy in London brought her to prominence as one of the few women reporting difficult and dangerous stories at that time.

She became the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent in 1989, and has reported from war zones around the world. The British Army would joke that when Kate Adie arrived on the scene the soldiers knew they were in trouble!

In An Audience With…Kate Adie OBE, DL at The Watermill theatre on Tuesday, October 7 at 2pm Kate will talk about her extraordinary career and life experiences.

She will also talk about her new book, Fighting On The Home Front, a story of the First World War years through the eyes of women.

Kate has won numerous awards including three Royal Television Society awards, the BAFTA Richard Dimbleby Award, and the Broadcasting Press Guild’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting.

Kate also presents From Our Own Correspondent on BBC Radio 4 and is the author of four bestselling books. She was awarded an OBE in 1993.

After this special fundraising event for The Watermill, audience members will have the opportunity to meet Kate in the bar for tea and cake.

Tickets for the event are £30 and are available from the box office on 01635 46044 or online at watermill.org.uk.
